Vannie Ray was the sixth son of Isaac "Ike" and Nursie Lewis. (He later changed his name to Vannie Ray Lewis.) He married Beulah Allen on April 23, 1917. They had 11 children, Wayne Lewis who married Blennie; Vera Mae Lewis born Jan. 16, 1919 who married L. Richard "Dick" Roycraft and she died Dec. 26, 1963; Maidie Elizabeth Lewis born Nov. 27, 1922 and she married Silas Thomas "Pete" Wiggins; Vannie Thomas "V.T." Lewis born Dec 23, 1923 and married Junaita, he died Jan. 21, 2007; Cater Hugh Lewis born August 26, 1929 and married Mary Barfield; James Russell Lewis who never married; Shirley Irene Lewis who married Clifton Lanier; Allen Lewis married Connnie Merritt; Leo Lewis who never married; Rosa Lee Lewis who married Bill Norton and then a Mr. Emerson; Jean Faye Lewis born Dec. 13, 1940 married Jesse "Mac" McCumbee on April 21, 1957. Vannie was a farmer all his life.
