Having known the hardships and privations of pioneer life, he was a kind and considerate neighbor, a thoughtful friend, a tender and wise parent and a loving and true husband, and companion, and a worthy and honored citizen.

Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church in Cuba with the Rev. Amos Rundus officiating. Interment was in Kopsa cemetery.
