He was the son of Elijah and Nancy Adkins Cantrell. Born in June 1880, he had been a lifetime resident of Oil Springs.
Mr. Cantrell, a farmer, was a veteran of the Spanish- American War.
His wife, Julia Love Cantrell, died in 1944.
Four sons, Robert, Burns, Bryon and Burt, all of Oil Springs, survive.
Also surviving are two daughters, Hazel Cochran of Win and Edna Myrtle Cantrell of Dayton, OH.
Services were held in the chapel of the Paintsville Funeral Home, with Lonza Reed, Elzie Banks and Alfred Frazier, Jr., officiating.
Burial followed in the family cemetery at Oil Springs.
