Martha K. Ames Taken By Death
Mrs. Martha Kepford Ames, 72, a former Lodi and Stockton resident, passed away at the Albany Hospital Tuesday morning after an apparent heart attack at her daughter's Albany home.
A native of Newton, Kansas, she moved with her family to Hastings, Nebraska until 1907, when she moved to Lodi with the family.
Mrs. Ames was employed by her father, the late J.H. Walter, a pioneer Lodi Grocer, and had all her schooling in Lodi.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Ames; two daughters, Mrs. Lovelle Niehaus of Albany and Mrs. Yvonne Uldall of Monterey; a sister, Mrs. Esther Smith of Stockton; a brother, Edward D. Walter of Lodi, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
