Del is survivied by his wife of 52 years, Cynthia Marie Hill Meeks (married June 27, 1946) of Arcadia; daughters Tincie Lee Shively of Burgaw, NC; Diana Black of Arcadia; and Janice Arena of Sebring; and son Gayron of Arcadia. His brothers Daniel, JC, Hugh of Alabama, Bill and Hubert of Panama City and Harold Meeks of Georgia. He was predeceased by his eldest son, Quinton M. Meeks and his oldest brother George Edward Meeks.
A Veteran, Del served in the Air Force in World War II.
Services were held Sunday, June 7, 1998 at noon Arcadia Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses Pat Osborn, Officiating.
His body was cremated and his ashes were scattered on Turner Ranch where he lived and worked for years located in Arcadia, Desoto County, Florida.
I remember going to a Meeks family reunion in Arcadia, Florida at the Turner Ranch, one year before I was a licensed driver.
Good memories.
Del was kicked in the head by a horse which cracked his skull and caused a tumor.
