George Edward Meeks, 72 of Villa Rica, died June 26, 1994 at Tanner, Villa Rica.

He was born January 13, 1922 in Carroll County, the son of John S. and Lilla Muse Meeks.

He was retired from the City of Atlanta where he was in the maintenance department of the Atlanta Hartsfield International Airport. After his employment he worked at Associated Foods. He was a World War II veteran having served in the Army and the Air Force.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Charles (of Fairburn, Georgia).

Survivors include his wife, Maureen Causey Meeks of Villa Rica, daughters Ann Hopkins of Sandy Springs, Linda Haney of Austell, Vanessa Meeks of Marietta; seven brothers Harold Meeks of Villa Rica, JC Meeks of Birmingham, Bud and Hugh both of Heflin, Hubert and Bill both of Panama City; Delmas Meeks of Arcadia, Florida; extended generations.

Funeral arrangements by Jones & Son funeral Home, Villa Rica. Service at Fullerville Baptist Church, June 28 at 1pm. Burial in Glenn Memorial Gardens in the Flat Rock Community.

Grandson, Brian Haney preached his first sermon Mother's Day of 1994 at Grace Bapt in Mableton. He was called to preach a few weeks before. George and Maureen were able to hear his sermon before George passed away June 1994.
