Catherine "Katie" L. Wasinger, 84, 2013 Main St. Terrace, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 1998, at her home. She was born May 4, 1914, to Corneal J. and Anna (Pfannenstiel) Stecklein.
She graduated from Girl's Catholic School, Hays, in 1932.
She married Nick A. Wasinger on May 8, 1934, in Munjor. She was a homemaker and member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, VFW Auxiliary, Hays Medical Center Auxiliary and St. John Nursing Home of Hays Auxiliary.
Survivors include a daughter, Sister Jeanette Wasinger, Concordia; a brother, Alois Stecklein, Munjor; a sister, Margaret Billinger, Hays; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nov. 28, 1998, a son, Donald, 1987, a great-granddaughter, Lacey Ann Wasinger, September 1998; and four brothers, Wendlin, Jake, August and Fidelis.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Earl Befort officiating; burial at the church cemetery. An altar society Christian Mothers rosary will be at 4 p.m., a combined Hays Medical Center and St. John's of Hays Auxiliary rosary is at 4:30 p.m., a Daughters of Isabella rosary is at 6:30 p.m., and a parish vigil service is at 7 p.m., all Friday at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Lacey Ann Wasinger Memorial fund.
