Sara was born at home in Dale Borough with her Grandmother Blackburn as midwife. She married Robert Roy Griffith, known as Roy, on May 21, 1943 in Johnstown. They were married 48 years. In the early years of their marriage Sara and Roy lived in Dale Borough before moving to their Oakland home in the early 1950s. Sara was a strong and resilient woman who survived and overcame five heart attacks in her later years. Sadly, she lost everything in a devastating fire resulting from a lightning strike on her apartment building in Laurel View Village in 2007. Sara relied on her faith, her loving family, and her indefatigable spirit to sustain her through this loss and continued to display personal courage as health problems beset her later years. She was a fighter. -- MKeaton
