Marie Theresa Fessler, age 80, formerly of 2636 State Highway 42, died Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.
Marie was born on Dec. 18, 1929, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Frank and Martha Popp Mailand. She graduated from Manitowoc Lincoln High School, class of 1947. On Sept. 9, 1950, she married Robert J. Fessler at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on Sept. 10, 1998. Marie was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Alverno, and she was currently an active member at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church,
Newton. She was also a member of the Christian Women's Society at Church.
Marie is survived by one son and daughter-in-law: John and Karen Fessler, Manitowoc; four daughters and three sons-in-law: Theresa and Gene Hartlaub, Newton, Barb Altergott and Gale Lebrick, life partner, Two Rivers, Anne and Terry Busse, Manitowoc, and Monica and David Larsen, Manitowoc; 12 grandchildren: Diana Mills and her husband Marc, Christina Hartlaub, Pamela Hartlaub and special friend Blaise, Kate Lulloff and her husband, Jamie, Adam
Fessler and his fiancee' Devin, Luke Fessler and his wife Meghan, Jacob Altergott and his wife Michele, Dean Altergott and his special friend Cassandra, Jason Altergott and his fiancee' Kalee, Samuel Busse and his wife Andrea, Sarah Fischer and her husband Lee, and Alexandria Des Armo and her husband Ben; one step grandchild: Ben Lebrick; eight great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law: Martha and Robert
Brey Sr., Manitowoc; and two sisters-in-law: Dolores Matte, Manitowoc and Marian Mailand, Sturgeon Bay. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Marie was also preceded in death by an infant daughter: Mary; one brother: Raymond; two sisters-in-law: Norma Trainor and her husband Francis, Constance Wimmer and her husband Raymond and
Arnold Matte; her father-in-law and mother-in-law: August and Emma Fessler; one half sister, and two half brothers.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday morning, Dec. 30, 2009 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Newton. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Gerald Foley. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Tuesday evening, Dec. 29, 2009, at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 4 until 8 p.m. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Presiding at the prayer service will be Sr. Marlita Henseler. The visitation will continue on Wednesday morning, Dec. 30, 2009, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Newton from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 11 a.m.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
