John (Red) Lewis, age 65, of 820 Reed Ave., Manitowoc, died Wednesday, April 26, 2000, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Milwaukee.
A Memorial Service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, May 1, 2000, at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be Sister Renee Delvaux O.S.F., with entombment of the cremated remains to take place at Calvary Mausoleum at a later date.
He was born February 11, 1935, in Valders, son of the late Mathew and Louise Gerl Lewis, John was a seventh brother to join the United States Army. He served in Italy from 1958 to 1964. John was a truck driver for the Mirro Co., Richter Vinegar and All American Transport retiring in 1996. He was a member of the Manitowoc Yacht Club and the Cliff Hangers Ski Club.
Survivors include a sister, Ann Marie Zankle, Manitowoc; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary and Ruth Lewis, Manitowoc, Eugene Lewis, Manitowoc, Edward and Barbara Lewis, Monmouth, Ill., Lloyd and Nanette Lewis, Manitowoc, Eleanor Lewis, Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by two brothers , George and Alvin Lewis; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Lewis; a brother-in-law, James Zankle and a special friend, Nancy Lemberger.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center from 4 p.m. Monday until the time of service at 7 p.m.
