She was born in Gaston County on April 30, 1931, daughter of the late C.R. Phillips and Gertrude McMahan Phillips.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Benny, Johnny, Lloyd, R.B., Frank, Gene, and Grady Phillips.
Mrs. Meredith is survived by her husband of 56 years, Lee Franklin Meredith of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Ron Penley of York, S.C., Karen and Sureyya Ciliv of Seattle, Wash., Phyllis and Jim Johnston of Cramerton, and Donna Meredith of Gastonia; brothers and sister-in-law, David and Barbara Phillips of Gastonia, and Fred Phillips of Gastonia; sisters and brother-in-law, Pauline and Willie Tench of Dallas, and Martha Hope of Gastonia; grandchildren, Jonathan, Joshua, Morgan, and Erin.
She was a lifetime member of Calvary Baptist Church.
The daughters would like to express their sincere gratitude to their Uncle Fred for the loving care provided during their mother's illness.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, Sept. 7, at Calvary Baptist Church, beginning at 3 p.m.
A visitation will be held in the church sanctuary from 2 to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
The Rev. Jeff Taylor will be officiating the service. Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church General Fund, 3001 S. York Rd., Gastonia, N.C. 28052.
