Pauline was born in Waynesville, NC . She was the oldest of 12 children born to the late Charles Richard and Gertrude McMahan Phillips.

She was preceded in death by her husband William L. Tench Jr. along with 8 brothers; 2 sisters and 1 great-grandchild.

She was a member of Northside Community Baptist Church in Dallas.

Mrs. Tench is survived by her sons; Earl of Dallas, Alvin (wife Sherry) of Gastonia, Ralph Tench of High Shoals; daughter, Vivian Friday (husband John) of Dallas; brother, Fred Phillips; grandchildren, Ashley Sisk (Jeff), Jarrett Friday (Jaime), Andy and Jon Tench; along with 5 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.

Funeral: Greene Funeral Service – South Chapel 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, officiated by Pastor John Johnson.

Interment: High Shoals Cemetery.
