Lillian Hairston Carter Eggleston of Jeb Stuart Road Martinsville, was the wife of the late Joe E. Eggleston. She departed thus life on Friday, January 29, 2016 at her residence. She was born in Henry County on September 10, 1919 by the late Burgess Hairston and Ruby Waller Hairston. She was formerly married to late Jesse H. Carter.
She is survived by one son, Jesse H Carter of Martinsville; two daughters, Juanita E. Carter and Gloria C. Cheatum of Martinsville; three step children, Kermit Eggleston, Barbara Eggleston, Lolita Campbell all of Martinsville; five grandchildren; four sisters, Thennie Dent of Roanoke, Gertrude Cook of Washington DC , Annie Ruth Hairston of Cleveland Ohio, and Mabel H. Pritchett of Martinsville; three brothers, Irvin Hairtson, Joe Louis Hairston of Martinsville, and Harry Hairston. She was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers.
She retired from American Furniture Company and she was a member of Shiloh Way of the Cross Church of the Apostolic Doctrine where she served on the missionary board, and the adult choir and the culinary department of the church.
Funeral Service will be held at the Shiloh Way of the Cross Church of the Apostolic Doctrine on February 3, 2016 at noon, with interment at the Eggleston Family Cemetery, Martinsville.
