Richard M. Vandeventer, 89, Bloomfield, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, at his residence. Born April 30, 1908, in Greene county, he was the son of James Thomas and Alice (Barker) Vandeventer.

He was a retired farmer and had driving a school bus for the Bloomfield School District. He was a member of the Carpenters Union in Bloomington and K of P in Worthington.

Surviviors include his wife Carol (Price) Vandeventer; one daughter Sidney Price of Indianapolis; two sons Arkie Vandeventer of Worthington and Larry of Plainfield; one sister Martha Louise Tolen of Worthington; six grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Richard Vandeventer; six brothers; three sisters and six half brothers.

Graveside services were a 1:30 p.m. Thursday Oct. 23, at Calvertville Cemetery with the Rev. Mel Camp officiating. Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Worthington was in charge of arrangements.
