James Edward Crouse, 66, 321 Baltimore St., a battlefield guide here for many years and a former secretary of the Battlefield Guides' Association, died Sunday evening at 8:35 at the Warner Hospital after having been admitted there on Saturday. HE had been ill for some time and suffered from a heart condition.
Mr. Crouse was a lifelong resident of Adams County and was a son of the late Lewis Ellsworth Crouse and Mrs. Helen Elizabeth Crouse, 321 Baltimore.
Surviving in addition to his mother are a brother and five sisters, Walter Crouse, Fairfield;
Mrs. Donald Smith, Fairfield R2; Mrs. Nellie Eiker, Gettysburg R2; Mrs. Charles Bankert,
Taneytown RD; Mrs. Richard Eversole, Fairfield R1, and Miss Jessie Crouse, at home. There are also a number of nieces and nephews.
The deceased was a member of the United Church of Christ of Fairfield and the Moose lodge of Gettysburg.
Funeral services Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 at the United Church of Christ at Fairfield with his pastor, the Rev. Robert Paden, officiating. Interment in the Fairfield Cemetery.
