He was a son of the late Jeremiah and Catherine Crouse and was born in Franklin county, but had lived in Adams county since he was five years old.
Surviving are his widow, whose maiden name was Miss Elizabeth Snyder, and eight children: James, Lester, Catherine and Jessie, all at home; Walter Crouse, Liberty township; Mrs. Donald Smith, Liberty township; Mrs. Richard Ebersole, Liberty township, and Mrs. George Eiker, Gettysburg.
One sister, Mrs. John Shindledecker, Liberty township, and two brothers, William and John Crouse, both of Liberty township, also survive.
He was a member of St. John's Reformed church, Fairfield.
Interment was made Wednesday at Fountain Dale.
