Elmer E. Blatt, 87, Mohnton R.D. 5, Brecknock Township, died Saturday at 6:03 a.m. in Reading Hospital, where he had been a patient since March 18.

He was the husband of Gladys V. (Emerich) Blatt.

Born in Bern Township, he was a son of the late Frank P. and Carrie (Althouse) Blatt.

He had been employed for 25 years as a grinder by Carpenter Technology, retiring in 1977. He also raised beagles for 45 years and owned and operated Laurel Run Beagles from his home.

Blatt was a member of Epler's United church of Christ, Bern Township. He was also former president of the Lebanon Beagle Club and the Pocono Beagle Club and was a life member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows in Leesport.

He is also survived by a son, Franklin E. Blatt, Los Angeles, and a daughter, Anna Maye (Blatt) Clark, Reading. Other survivors include a brother, Arthur M., Reading, and two sisters, Catherine (Blatt) Kauffman, Mohnton, and Laura (Blatt) Reeser, a resident of Berks Heim.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Klee Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Shillington. Burial will be in Epler's Church Cemetery, Bern Township.
