New Castle, Indiana - Lexie I. Smith, 88, S. Main Street, died Friday at Heritage House Convalescent Center.


Mrs. Smith was born in Wayne County, Kentucky.


She had worked in the dietary department of Henry County Hospital for 19 years, retiring in 1971.


She was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she was a member of Circle One of the American Baptist Women's Fellowship.


Surviving are four sisters, Lois Crabtree, New Castle, Irene Addington, Lynn, Pearl Thompson, Winchester, and Della Dossage, Danville, Virginia; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.


Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by three brothers, Claude, Edward, and Hubert Eads; and two sisters, Lellie Daffron and Effie Koger.


Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Macer-Hall Funeral Home, with Rev. Dan Clemens officiating. Burial will be in South Mound Cemetery.


Calling will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
