Mary Lois Crabtree, age 91, New Castle resident, passed away Sunday evening at the Stone Brooke Convalescent Center.

She was born April 28, 1916 in Wayne County, KY, a daughter of the late Alvin and Dora Harmon Eads.

She had resided in New Castle since 1936 and was a Homemaker.

She loved spending time with her family, nature and gardening. She was a member of the First Baptist Church for 70 years, where she was a member of the Ithai Sunday School Class and Circle #1 Women's Missionary Society. She also served the church in many capacities, including preparation and serving meals at church.

She is survived by one son, Eldon Dirk (wife: Eloise Nina) Crabtree of New Castle; two grandsons, Alan B. Crabtree (fiancé: Cari Finley) of Anderson, Brian (wife: Heather) Crabtree of Rockton, IL; four great grandchildren, Teagan, Spencer, Austin and Kyler; one sister, Pearl Thompson of Winchester, IN; one sister-in-law, Virginia Eads of Hagerstown, IN; also many nieces nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest Crabtree in 1983; five sisters, Lillie Daffron, Effie Koger, Lexie Smith, Della Gossage and Irene Addington; three brothers, Herbert Eads, Ed Eads and Claude Eads.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Macer-Hall Funeral Home, with the Rev Jack Hannum officiating. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday (Today) at the funeral home.
