Carolyn L. Fitzgerald, 81, of State Route 208, New Bedford, died Monday May 8, 2017, at the Grove in New Wilmington.
Born in Vandergrift, Pennsylvania, Westmoreland County, on Aug. 7, 1935, to the late Lawrence and Reatha Cook Rupert.
She married Gary Jay Fitzgerald on Dec. 3, 1955, and he survives at the residence.
Mrs. Fitzgerald was of the Protestant faith.
She enjoyed music, playing the organ and at one time sang in the church choir.
She worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a clerk. She also worked in the school at Villa Maria. She formerly was fire dispatcher for Pulaski Township.
Survivors include her husband, Gary; three sons, Dave (Cindy) Fitzgerald of Pulaski, Jeff Fitzgerald of Pulaski and Randy (Rebecca) Fitzgerald of West Middlesex; a brother, Dale Rupert of Vandergrift, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Fitzgerald was preceded in death by a brother and four sisters.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, 310 W. Neshannock Ave., New Wilmington.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Bill Beck officiating.
Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, New Bedford.
