Eloise I. McManus, 84, of Vandergrift, passed on to her heavenly home Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008, from West Haven Nursing Home. She was born Sept. 8, 1924, in Parks Township, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Reatha Cook Rupert. She was the wife of the late Howard Victor McManus and lived in Vandergrift, in the house that her husband built for her 60 years ago. She was a member of Franklin Avenue Church of God, where she served as treasurer of the Missionary Society for 25 years and sang in the church choir for more than 50 years. She worked at Acme Die, putting gunpowder into shells during World War II. She also worked at Schenley and Irvin Works in her younger years. She enjoyed tending her flower garden, cooking, sewing and spending time with her family. Survivors include her daughter, Vickie Evans, of Washington Township; two sons, Mark (Cindy) McManus, of West Vandergrift, and Randy McManus, of Vandergrift; grandchildren, Hope Shick, Rebecca Moorhead, Tara Shaw, MaryBeth Fenn, Daniel McManus, Rachel McManus, Manus McManus and Declan McManus; 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Dale (Carole) Rupert; sisters, Maxine (Clifford) White and Carolyn (Gary) Fitzgerald; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Daniel; granddaughter, Danielle; great-grandson, Ethan; brother, Harold; and sisters, Valgean and Millicent. This gentle woman will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at DUNMIRE-KERR FUNERAL HOME INC., 244 Franklin Ave., Vandergrift. Service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Franklin Avenue Church of God, 530 Franklin Ave., Vandergrift, with Pastor Kathy Taylor officiating. Interment in Riverview Cemetery, Apollo.
