Margaret Smith Hodge was a daughter of Robert Hodge and Sarah Smith. She died at the Chelmsford & Essex Hospital aged 72 years and was interred at the Writtle Rd Cemetery on the 19th of August - as reported in the Essex Newsman 22 August 1942.

She married Robert Fleming 25 Sept 1902 at Chelmsford. They had several children together who include:- David 1903, Robert Hodge 1904, Sarah Smith 1905, Margaret Scott 1907 and Elizabeth Jane 1908. (This is not complete or necessarily accurate). Margaret may have had a 1st marriage and child to James Andrew.

Buried to the left of Margaret & Robert's plot is their granddaughter Margaret E Fleming who died aged 6. She was the daughter of David Fleming & Elizabeth (Bessie) Clark Orr.

Margaret is buried with her husband Robert Fleming - see inscription below.

Loving memory of Margaret Smith Fleming who was called home on August 14th 1942 - peace perfect peace - Also of her beloved husband Robert who passed peacefully to his rest 19th Jan 1960 aged 91 years.
