Greer, June 26 – The funeral of Benjamin Herman Farmer, 42, who was killed by lightening yesterday near Summerton, will be conducted Friday at 3 p.m. at the Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church.

Mr. Farmer, who was the son of Mr. and Mrs. George
Washington Farmer of Greer, route 2, had been employed on the Santee-Cooper project about six months. Besides his parents, survivors include seven brothers, Edgar, Leslie, Irvin, Jesse and Ed Farmer of Greer, Route 2, T. B. Farmer of Gramling and Blease Farmer of Fort Sill, Okla.; four sisters, Mrs. Leila Burrell of Greer, route 3, and Miss Maybelle Farmer, Mrs. Bessie Henson and Mrs. Marcelle Fitts of Greer, route 2.

The Rev. Norman Long and the Rev. Paul Mabry will officiate at the last rites, with burial in the Mt. Lebanon church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Junior Henson, Wilson Suddeth, Horace Campbell, Broadus Henson, Will Rodgers and Jack Ponder. The body is at the home of the parents.

Herm was the oldest of 12 children of George Washington & Rosa Lee Ross Farmer.

Herm was killed when he was struck by lightning while working. He never married.
