DELAND - Chester H. Anderson, 96, died Oct. 1, 2008, at his home. A funeral service was scheduled for 11 a.m. today, Monday, Oct. 6, at First Assembly-DeLand, 1500 E. International Speedway Blvd. Interment will follow at DeLand Memorial Gardens, 600 E. Beresford Ave.

Mr. Anderson was a laborer. Born in Caribou, Maine, he moved to this area in 1975 from Bristol, Conn.

He was a lifetime member of First Assembly-DeLand, and a member of the McDonald?s Coffee Club for 25 years, serving as a past president. He enjoyed fishing and people, and it was said he never met a stranger.

Mr. Anderson was preceded in death in 2002 by his wife, Myrtle Iva; two daughters, Iva May Anderson in 1937, and Marian Mable Anderson in 1940; and his first daughter-in-law, Yvonne Marie Anderson in 1985.

He is survived by one son, Chester L. of DeLand; his second daughter-in-law, Bladis S. Anderson of DeLand; three sisters, Elizabeth J. Tibbitt of Millinocket, Maine, Ethel M. Nutting of Perham, Maine, and Zelda S. Wilcox of Westbrook, Maine; three brothers, Gilbert J. of Prospect, Conn., Merrill E. of Caribou, and Simon E. of Beaver, Pa.; five grandchildren, Mitzi Stevenson and Jeff Anderson, both of Port Orange, Robbie McCreary of DeLand, and Bill Crow and Michelle White, both of DeBary; 11 great-grandchildren, Matthew Teschner, Ryan Teschner, Heather Teschner, Brady Anderson, Donny Barlip II, Jean Barlip, Britney McCreary, William McCreary Jr., Alex Whitaker, Shelly White and Juanita Brooke White; and three great-great-grandchildren, Kasey Barlip, Analease Sandoval and Azalyn Barlip.
