Several of the children of Jakob and Karolina Kallis are listed as dying in WWII, fleeing to the Caucasus or Argentina, or dying in Friedenstal instead of immigrating to America. Katherine's birth on August 12, 1865 would be impossible for Louise Kallis considering she gave birth to Karolina on March 26, 1864 and Michael on June 28, 1866. No death or immigration information is listed for the children of Andreas and Louise Kallis. All of their children were female.
Katharina made a petition for naturalization on 30 September 1907. She stated that her birth date was August 27, 1865. Katherine spoke English. Her husband Ludwig spoke English poorly, if at all.
Her death certificate is not helpful as it was filled out by son Ludwig Aichele who didn't know her maiden name or the place or date of birth of his mother. Birth date was incorrectly listed as August 28, 1860. Birth place listed as "Carlos...", Russia (Karlsrhue?). Her residence was listed as Touchet, Washington. She died at the Walla Walla General Hospital from complications related to the appendectomy she had undergone four days earlier.
