MARY ANN LINDSLEY
Mary Ann was the only child born to Benjamin Lindsley, Jr. by his second wife, Elizabeth Eastman, who were marriage briefly. In Otto Moore's 1969 'Lance Chronicles', Mary Ann Lindsley is depicted as "the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Houghton."

Her mother, Betsey Eastman married (1) Benjamin Lindsley, Jr. on 6 Feb 1825 in Medina County, Ohio (his second marriage). Elizabeth (Eastman) Lindlsey married (2) Oliver Houghton Sr. on 19 Sep 1827 in Medina County, Ohio.

Benjamin Lindsley, Jr., married (3) Mrs. Clenna Thomas (aka Betsey C. Boult) on 17 Sep 1837 in Medina Co.

Mary Ann Lindsley married James M. Halliwill, a son of George Halliwill, Jr. and Jemimah Matthews, on 6 Sep 1842 [The Medina Co. Marriage Register, Vol. B, p21]. A woman of culture and refinement, she was of great assistance to her husband in his duties throughout their marriage, always encouraging him and counseling him in whatever work he was engaged. This union was blessed by the birth of eight children.

On 8 Jan 1886, James purchased the family's Mound Hill Cemetery plot, consistings of five spaces. In 1934, the couple's original monument was replaced with a grey granite roll upon a matching pedestal. The said was installed per the request of their son, George B., dec'd 1933.

The said granite monument was removed from the final resting place of Floyd C. Halliwill (s/o George B.), which was then replaced with triple family monument. George's widow, Mary Elizabeth (Cramer) Halliwill added a new inscription and Floyd's inscription appears on the underside. Inscription dates as acquired directly from monument read: James M. Halliwill 1821-1902 (correct dates are 1820-1901); Mary Ann Linley 1826-1896 (correct spelling 'Lindsley').
