Missouri Valley Times, July 18, 1889
Died in Missouri Valley, Harrison County, Iowa, Sunday morning, July 14, 1889, Ephram Brandriff, age 67. The deceased was born in New Jersey in 1822, and came west in 1861, stopping in Omaha, Nebraska, in which place he remained until 1864 when he moved to this county and settled on a large farm near Mondale, where he continued to reside until his health began to fail him, and last year he concluded to leave the farm and moved to this city, having bought the beautiful home of B. F. Blythe, on McGavern street where he died. He had been a sufferer with that terrible disease known as Bright's disease, and for some months his family and friends had lost hope in his recovery. He was a man of high moral character, having the respect of all who knew him, and died regretted by the entire community. The funeral took place from his late residense, conducted by Rev. J. B. Murch, of the Baptist Church, and his body was followed to its last resting place in the Calhoun Cemetery by a large number of relatives and friends.
SUBMITTERS NOTE: Ephriam Brandriff headstone is actually in the Brandriff family plot in Rose Hill Cemetery, Missouri Valley, Iowa. I do not know if he was buried at Calhoun cemetery, and moved later or not.

Ephriam was 17 years old when his father died and for the next 8 years he remained in the family home with his stepmother, Mary, assisting in caring for the family, of which 6 children were younger than himself.
