Son of Daniel and Mary Hanthorn Brandriff; he was named after his grandfather Isaac Hanthorn.

He was the athlete of the family; when very young he excelled in games and sports of the village. Later his chief sport was with gun and dogs. He acquired a proficiency with a shot gun that was wonderful, and as long as he lived this was his chief sport. He kept some of the best Fox hounds that could be produced. He was know over South Jersey, Delaware and Maryland in hunting circles as a great fox and deer hunter. In 1838, Isaac went to Winslow, N.J. as an apprentice under Josiah Tice to learn the trade of glass cutting, and afterward worked at this trade for 6 or 7 years in Millville.

Husband of Caroline Stratton, married August 11,1845.

Isaac and Caroline had seven children, Chester G, Emma, Lilia, Katherine(Kate), Sidney, Caroline, and William.

Cause of death was appendicitis.
