Edward "Ned" Darcy was born in 1861 at Dagworth, near Maitland, New South Wales, Australia. He was the son of James Darcy and Mary (Begley) Darcy.

Edward married Sarah Ann Healey 14th May 1884 at St Brigid's, Raymond Terrace, New South Wales, Australia.
They had three sons:
John Elwin Darcy (1886-1946)
Raymond Bede "Jim" Darcy (1888-1919)
James Percy Darcy (1890-1891)

Edward's wife, Sarah Ann (Healey) Darcy, died in 1891 at West Maitland, New South Wales, Australia.

Edward married Margaret O'Rourke 04 July 1893 at St Bede's, Morpeth, New South Wales, Australia.

EDWARD DARCY, father of the famous Australian boxer, Les Darcy, died in a private hospital at Marrickville (Sydney), yesterday. He will be buried in the East Maitland Cemetery under the red granite monument which marks the resting place of his famous son. The late Edward Darcy was 78 years of age.
