Vance - Roy Malving Boykin, of Vance, died Friday, May 21, 2010, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 23, at the graveside in Gerizim United Methodist Church cemetery, with the Rev. Marty Wiles and the Rev. Johnny Whiten officiating. Mr. Boykin was born May 23, 1926, in Summerville, a son of the late Trenholm and Minnie Lee Way Boykin. He was a member of Gerizim United Methodist Church, a World War II Navy veteran and retired from the S.C. Highway Department. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and fixing things. Mr. Boykin was predeceased by siblings, Alfred Boykin, Irving Boykin, Jasper Boykin, Myrtle B. Pennington and Jimmy Boykin. Survivors are his wife, Connie Mae Martin Boykin of the home; a daughter, Brenda (John) Outlaw of Sumter; sons, Timothy "Tim" (Kathy) Boykin of Orangeburg and Shawn (Dianne) Boykin of Summerville; grandchildren, Clark and Olivia Boykin, both of Summerville, Ryan (Tarah) Boykin of Florence; great-granddaughters, Mia Kathryne Boykin and Reese Elizabeth Boykin, both of Florence; a sister, Doris Blondell (Johnny) Whiten of Holly Hill; and a brother, Palmer (Cecil) Boykin of Summerville. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 23, at in Gerizim United Methodist Church and other times at the residence.
