From The Palmer Journal, December 8, 1927, page 1, transcribed by Linda Berney:

Ernest August Kamper was born May 28, 1862 at Okawville, Washington County, Illinois. He came to Nebraska in August 1886, and the following year, on the 27th of October, he was joined in holy wedlock to Anna Bruns, who preceded him in death. To this union were born nine children, eight of whom are still living, while William died in France during the last war. Two of his sisters are still living. They are Mrs. Wm. Luebke of Palmer and Mrs. Wm. Wernecke who lives in Illinois.

On August 13, 1920 he was married to Lydia Reinig, who survives him.

Mr. Kamper departed this life on the third of this month, having reached the age of 65 years, 6 months and 5 days.

At all times, and under all circumstances, he walked in the well beaten path of righteousness and when fully conscious that he was nearing the last of earth, he appeared to be impressed with the idea that at the end of time, eternity begins, and that the bright faith which sustained him during those trying hours of suffering would only grow brighter as he journeyed toward the Infinite.

Funeral services were held this afternoon from the John Kamber (sic) home at one o'clock, and St. John's Luthern Church at 1:30. Interment was made in Rose Hill Cemetery.
