Cpl. Martin B. Kamper, about 35, a native of central Nebraska and for many years a farm worker in Hall county, has been reported by the war department as killed in action in the Mediterranean area.

A brother, George H. Kamper, living northeast of Grand Island had the first official word in February and at that time Cpl. Kamper was listed as "missing in action." A telegram announcing his death arrived May 12.

According to relatives, Cpl. Kamper lost his life when a troop ship sank in the Mediterranean sea during the month of November. He had been overseas less than a year and had been stationed in north Africa.

Born near Chapman, he often stayed at the George Kamper home while employed near Grand Island. He had been in the service for more than two years, members of the family said.
