Edward Patrick King, 74, of Quimby died Thursday morning, February 20, 1980, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha following a lingering illness. He had been a resident since 1937. Services were held Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in Quimby with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cherokee, under direction of Greenwood Funeral Home of Cherokee. Mr. King was born March 17, 1905, to Americus Vesputus Joseph King and Mary Alice McDermott in Danbury, Iowa. On February 17, 1931, he married Lillian Petersen at Anthon. He had farmed near Anthon, Oto, and Quimby and six years in Big Lake, Minnesota. He also owned and operated the CumBac Café in Quimby for ten years. He retired in 1975. Survivors include his wife, three daughters, Miss Mary Perle King of Fullerton, California, Mrs. James (Karen) Orrell of Riverside, California, Mrs. Gary (Juanita) Hempel of Cherokee, one son, Wm. E. of Big Lake, Minnesota, eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren, a brother, Paul of Quimby, five sisters, Mrs. Marie McNear of Homer, Nebraska, Mrs. Agnes Sawin of Anthon, Mrs. Ann Wright of Quimby, Mrs. Bob (Velrene) Swanger of Cleghorn, and Mrs. Bill (Jerry) Foley of Quimby.
