Leo Boyer Rites Held Saturday
Funeral services for Leo B. Boyer, 76, long time resident of this area, were held Saturday, March 9, at 2 p.m. from Trinity Lutheran Church of Cyrus, the Rev. John R. Malm officiating.
Organist was Mrs. Eva L. Pederson and soloist was Gerald Wiger.
Pallbearers were Lonnie Solvie, Clifford Mickelson, Larry Kannegiesser, DeWayne Larson, Melloy Flaten and Warren Anderson. Honorary pallbearers were Alvin Roiland, Donald W. Anderson, Max Huntley, Herbert Reese, Knute Klevann and Victor Wrolson. Burial was in St. Petri Cemetery at Cyrus.
Mr. Boyer died Monday, March 4, at Valley Baptist Hospital in Harlingen, Texas, following a three weeks illness.
Leo Bernard Boyer was born Sept. 19, 1897, at Williams, Iowa, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Bernard R. Boyer. In 1900 he moved with his family to rural Canby and it was there that he received his formal education. The famliy moved to rural Wadena in 1912 where they engaged in farming. Mr. Boyer married to Violet Bennet on Oct. 1, 1935 at St. Cloud and the couple farmed at Wadena until 1941 when they moved to Walden Township, rural Cyrus. After retiring in 1962, they continued to live on the farm until their move to Morris in 1969. For the past six winters they have lived at Harlingten, Texas.
The deceased was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Cyrus. He was president of the Cyrus Farmers Elevator Association for 14 years and was a board member of the Cyrus Shipping Association.
Immediate srvivors are his widow, Violet of Morris; three sons, Dale J. of Minneapolis, Richard E. of Marshall and David L. with the United States Air Force; three grandchildren, five brothers, Joseph of Puyallup, Wash., Gregor of San Bernadino, Calif., John of Wadena, Ray of Bemidji and Edward of Anoka, and a sister, Mrs. Lloyd (Clara) Larson of St. Cloud.
Pederson Funeral Home of Morris was in charge of arrangements.
