Oscar and Hattie Carlson's Son:

** Oscar Theodore "Ted" Carlson **
Ted was an active Family Member who advocated for Family get
gatherings with all John, Oscar, Alma and Hilda's Families.
Per our family, many years ago , Oscar "Ted" Carlson hosted annual
Family Picnics for Relatives from Darling, Freedom, Little Falls Morrison Co. MN.
Many Twin Cities Metro MN Carlson Relatives attended the picnics. Family gathered with
Relatives in Little Falls and Darling often. Family also attended picnics at the beautiful
Mpls MN Minnehaha Falls Park during the Swedish Heritage Day- "Svenskarnas Dag"
annual summer Celebrations there. Family got together at many gatherings.
Lena Carlson was Norwegian and Family also celebrated Norwegian Heritage.
The once separate events now appear to be merged for some events as Scandinavian
Events. There was rivalry back then with the Norwegian and the Swedish. Our uncle
said that when Ted passed away in July 1978, Ted's Daughter Alice wanted our family to
have "official" annual Carlson Reunion picnics. Alice away March 1979 tragically
during a snow storm. A Semi hit her vehicle. Alice was married to legendary Coach and
Football player Stavros Canakes. Our Family carried on Alice's wishes and we have held
"official " annual Carlson Reunion Picnics yearly for many years. We had already been
gathering regularly for picnics at the lake home of Frank and Lena Carlson Hamernick
in Big Lake for many years before this. "Official" yearly Carlson Family Reunion
Picnics have been hosted yearly ever since, starting at the Hamernick Lake Home in
Big Lake. After Frank and Lena moved from their lake home, family initially
moved the Reunions to a Park along the River in the Big Lake area. Family relocated
the picnics to the Twin Cities Metro area after Frank and Lena Hamernick passed away.
Yearly Carlson Family Reunions are hosted in the Twin Cities Metro area. All Relatives
of John and Lena Carlson and their Siblings Families are welcome to the annual
Carlson Reunion Picnics. Next event July 2019 in Maple Grove MN Park.

John's Son Oscar, nicknamed Wally, was named after John's brother Oscar.
