PASSED AWAY – Mrs. Agnes J. Childers Dies Wednesday Afternoon
Death, mercifully intervened and put an end to the sufferings of Mrs. Agnes J. Childers, Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Childers has been a sufferer with nervous ailments for the past sixteen years and many times during these years her life hung by slender threads. Three months ago she became worse, pleurisy having added itself to the nervous troubles. Her conditions became more serious until New Year's day when she peacefully passed away, the direct cause of death being heart failure.
Mrs. Childers, whose maiden name was Agnes Jane Thomas, was born in Pottsville, Pa., 69 years ago on Aug. 8th. In her youth her parents removed to Illinois where she was married to S.S. Childers, who preceded her in death two years. To this union 10 children were born, seven of whom survive her, they being, Mark, of Goldfield, Nev., Mrs. Peter Schaefer, David, Townsend and Fred of this city, Mrs. Jas. Hodgon of Buhl and Mrs. R.J. Whiteside of Duluth.
The family resided at Norway and other Michigan points for several years coming to Soudan among the first when the Vermilion range was opened. Thirteen years ago they removed to this city.
The funeral takes place tomorrow noon from the residence of her daughter, Mrs, Schaefer. The remains will be taken to Tower for interment in the family lot, the funeral party going to Tower on the 1:20 train.
Mrs. Childers had many friends in this city and at Tower who regret to learn of her demise. Besides the relatives above noted, she leaves two sisters, Mrs. Bray od Wharton, N.J., and Mrs. Williams of Hibbing.
