Clara MacKenzie Dies
Clara M. MacKenzie, 58, of Great Falls, widow of a former Fort Benton resident, died in a Great Falls hospital last Tuesday afternoon. Funeral services were Friday at St. Ann's Cathedral with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Fort Benton.
Clara Alzheimer was born in 1915 at Collins, attended school there, graduated from Brady high, and Northern Montana College. She married Fred Hartsell MacKenzie in Fort Benton, Dec. 2, 1942. After Fred's return from service that included the invasion of Luzon, they lived in Fort Benton for several years, then moved to Great Falls. He died July 4, 1956. Mrs. McKenzie was a school secretary, employed by a paper and jewelry firm, then by the Cascade welfare department until her death.
Survivors include two sons, Peter E. MacKenzie of Missoula, and Fred H. MacKenzie of Great Falls; a daughter, Mrs. Gordon (Mary) Johnson of Great Falls; three grandchildren; brothers, Lawrence, Joseph, Paul, Martin and Ed Alzheimer, all of Choteau, and George Alzheimer of Highwood; sisters, Mrs. John (Marie) Stein of Loma, Betty Helen of Sheridan, Wyo., and Ann Munson of Deer Lodge.
