Funeral services for Albert J. Snyder, 55-year-old city employee, who died suddenly at 8:15 a.m. Saturday morning in the office of the city clerk, were held Tuesday, April 8, at 2 p.m., at the Florence mortuary chapel with the Rev. Milton Oberhelman officiating.
Mrs. J. V. McCandless played the "Old Rugged Cross" at the organ.
Pallbearers, all city employees, were Joe Cox, Sam Mayfield, Leonard Meyers, La Jansen, Ray Bledsoe, and John Camerlo. The city council and city employees attended the services in a body.
Born Aug. 29, 1902 at Williamsburg, Mr. Snyder had been a resident of Fremont county most of his life. A coal and hard rock miner by occupation, he had lived 17 years at Elkton, Colo., before taking his post with the city. At the time of his death he was head of the Florence water department.
He married Cora M. Acton April 23, 1927, at Trinidad.
Survivors include his widow and eight children: Sgt. Albert Snyder Jr., Ft. Sill, Okla.; Mrs. Alta Herrin, Cleveland, O.; Mrs. Virginia Mae Kissell, Mrs. Dorothy Miles, Mrs. Alberta Lennox, John, Leslie and Ivan Snyder, Florence. There are also eight brothers and sisters, and eight half-brothers and half-sisters.
Burial was at Union Highland cemetery under direction of the Florence Mortuary.
