Lt. Gen. the Honourable Sir Charles Grey

Second son of Charles Grey, 2nd Earl Grey, and the Honourable Mary Elizabeth Ponsonby. Paternal grandson of Charles Grey, 1st Earl Grey, and Elizabeth Grey. Maternal grandson of William Brabazon Ponsonby, 1st Baron Ponsonby, and the Honourable Louisa Molesworth.

Charles was a British Army officer and served as private secretary to both Prince Albert and Queen Victoria.

He married Caroline Eliza Farquhar on 26 July 1836, and together they had six children including Albert Grey, 4th Earl Grey, the Countess of Minto, the Duchess of St. Albans and the Countess of Antrim.

His wife survived him by 20 years.
