On 28 Nov 1816 in Mecklenburg, Virginia, he married Sarah "Sally" Gee (BIRTH ABT 1796 Lunenburg County, Virginia; DEATH 19 AUG 1853 Lunenburg County, Virginia) and they had a daughter Elizabeth Andrews (BIRTH 1817 Virginia; DEATH 1890 Kentucky). Sally Gee Andrews married Robert Phillips on February 27, 1821, shortly after Anderson's death and about five years after their marriage.

Their daughter Elizabeth on May 8, 1832 in Mason County, Kentucky married William J Fowler (1806–1869) and they had the following children:
