According to family tradition John died as the result of an accident caused by his careless use of a sharp knife in his shoemaking shop. No will was recorded for him but he left a sizeable estate which was liquidated and the ensuing $ 1,258.98 was divided among his brothers and sisters.

This Indenture made this fourteenth day of October one thousand eight hundred and twenty four between Ephraim Andrews of Williamson County and State of Tennessee of the one part and John Andrews of the County and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Ephraim Andrews for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred dollars to him in hand paid the receipt of which he doth hereby acknowledge himself fully satisfied and paid hath given granted bargained sold alien transferred and confirmed and the said Ephraim Andrews for himself his heirs and assigns doth by these presents grant bargain sale alienate and confirm unto the said John Andrews his heirs and assigns forever one certain tract or parcel of land lying in Williamson County bounded said State on the waters of Rutherford Creek containing one hundred acres and bounded as follows – Beginning at a dogwood tree in the military line thence South one hundred and forty eight poles to a Sugar tree and beach on Thomas Gillefried line, thence West with said line one hundred and thirteen poles to three small poplar in Ramsay's line thence north one hundred and thirty five poles to a stake on the military line thence eastwardly with said line one hundred and thirteen poles to the beginning the _______ & ________ on the _________ _______ through to have and to hold the said one hundred acres of land with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging to the said John Andrews his heirs and assigns forever and the said Ephraim Andrews for himself his heirs and assigns doth covenant and agree with the before granted lands with all its appurtenances to the said John Andrews his heirs and assigns forever against him the said Ephraim Andrews his heirs and assigns forever and from the claims of every person or persons whatsoever.
