Marvin was the fourth of fourteen children born to John Raymond Sr and Anna Breas Batts.

He married Ruth. They had three daughters: Barbara, Bernadette and Janet.

Uncle Marv had a stroke which physically slowed him down but mentally he fought hard. He managed with this disability for many years.

He and his wife Ruth were both cremated and their ashes buried at Cherry Hills Community Church where their daughter Barbara and son in law were ministers there for 32 years.
