Mr. Luecker can recall the community of Brillion when he first saw it without railroad facilities, sidewalks or good streets. The settlement at that time was known as Spring Creek. For 14 years after his arrival in Brillion at the persuassion of his brother, Jac he worked at the Brillion Furniture Co., where he was in charge of the finishing and packing department. After the plant was destroyed by fire, Mr Luecker became a painting contractor, a trade he practiced for 45 years until his retirement a few years ago. He pursued his hobby of photography, and his collection of family portraits includes tintypes as well as the more modern finishes.
He was an early member of the Brillion Fire and was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America. For almost 60 years he had been a faithful member of the Friedens Evangelical and Reformed Church in Brillion where he and his wife, the former Caroline Schaubs, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.
