WALCOTT, Iowa--Alberta H. Brockmann, of Walcott, Iowa, died Friday, April 14, 2006, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport. Visitation will be held Monday, April 17, from 4-8 p.m. at Bentley Funeral Home, Durant, Iowa. Services will be held Tuesday, April 18, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Serving at casket bearers will be Alberta's grandsons, Tom Brockmann, Bill Brockman, Kale Brockmann, Ben Brockmann, Todd Sleep, and Joe Sleep. Interment will take place at Walcott Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Walcott Fire Department or the Walcott Recreational Trail in her memory. Alberta Brockmann was born July 9, 1917, to Albert and Meta (Beckman) Riessen in Muscatine County, Iowa. She married Elmer J Brockmann on March 18, 1936, in Davenport. Elmer preceded her in death on May 28, 1998. Alberta was a member of the Walcott Pythian Sisters and the Daughters of the Nile. She was an excellent cook and was well known for her angel food cakes and cream puffs. She is survived and lovingly remembered by two daughters, Deanna and her husband, Keith Moore, of Davenport, and Peggy and her husband,Ron Sleep, of Long Grove, Iowa; three sons John and his wife, Janet Brockmann of Walcott, Chuck and his wife, Kim Brockmann, of Long Grove, Iowa, and Jim and his wife, Rhonda Brockmann, of Walcott; 17 grandchildren 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jane and her husband, Wyatt Thede, of Dixon, Iowa, and Nelda Kroeger, of Davenport; and her brother, Warren and his wife, Alice Riessen, of Walcott. She was preceded in death by parents, her husband, and her sister, Dorothy Brown.
