Spring Grove – George D. Shearer, 78, a retired carpenter and tenant on the farm of Adam D. Swartz, Jackson Township, died at his residence yesterday afternoon at 1 o'clock following an illness of two months. Death was due to a complication of diseases.
Surviving are his wife, Della Sheaffer Shearer; one daughter, Mrs. Raymond Myers, Spring Grove RD; six sons, Joseph Earl Shearer, Hanover; Walter J. Shearer, Thomasville RD; Lester E., John L., George W., and Lloyd E. Shearer, all of Spring Grove RD; 12 grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Jacob Sheaffer, Hanover.
Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Sauter Funeral Home, Main Street, with concluding services at Stone Church, near Brodbeck. Rev. Snyder Alleman, Abbottstown, will officiate. Interment will be in the Stone Church Cemetery.
