Mrs. John M. Schmitz, 79, of 25 N. State St., died early May 14, at Calumet Memorial Hospital. In ill health the past five years, she had been a patient at the hospital the past four days.

The former Minnie Dorn, was born in the town of New Holstein April 8, 1890, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bartel Dorn. She attended the district school and St. Charles Parochial School at Charlesburg.

She was married to John M. Schmitz June 7, 1910 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church at St. Anna. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1960.

Mrs. Schmitz was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers and Mission Societies of the parish.

Survivors are her husband; four sons, Donald, Robert and John Jr. of Chilton, and Edward of Milwaukee; three daughters, Mrs. John (Ruth) Grenzer, R. 1, Chilton, Mrs. Mark (Betty) O’Donnell of Elsie, Mich., and Mrs. William (Lorrie) Lintner of Greenwich, R. I. ; 29 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Oliver Eldridge of Chilton. A son and daughter preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with the Rev. Aloysius Knier, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
