Schmitz, Edward William Died peacefully at home at the age of 92 on October 9, 2016 while surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 13, 1923 in Chilton, WI to the late John and Minnie Schmitz. After graduating from Chilton high school in 1941 he continued to work and live on the family dairy farm. In 1949 he joined the Armed Forces of the US and served 13 months on Ready Reserve (active status) duty. On February 22, 1950 he was transferred from active status to Army Reserve and served another 5 years until he was honorably discharged on February 07, 1955. He moved to Milwaukee where he was employed at Allis Chalmers and Wisconsin Electric where he was employed as a maintenance electrician between 1955 and 1986. In 1953, Edward married Rita M. Gebhart in Charlesburg, WI at St. Charles Catholic Church and was with his beloved wife for 62 years.
He is preceded in death by his wife Rita, sisters Grace and Ruth, brother's Donald, Lloyd, Bob and John and grandson Mark Montag. Edward loved to volunteer throughout his life with his affiliated churches, St. Luke's in Brookfield and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in New Berlin. When he wasn't volunteering; he loved playing cards, golfing, bowling, gardening and woodworking.
