Peter was born to father's first wife Bengta Persdotter, daughter of Pehr Bengtsson and Maria Svensdotter; they married on 11 Oct 1854 in Harlunda, Kronoberg, Sweden.
Bengta died 24 Feb 1855 in Harlunda, Kronoberg, Sweden (five days after childbirth).

Born in Christianstads Lan Lonsboda, Sweden, February 19, 1855. Died at Farnam, Nebraska, April 3, 1933. Age 78 years, 1 month and 14 days.
He was united in marriage to Miss Mary Peterson, June 30, 1887. To this union was born eleven children, two having preceded him in death. Charles Edward, who died at the age of twenty-eight and Amelia Mathilda at the age of seventeen.
In the year 1881 he emigrated to America, coming to Joliet, Ill., where he spent a short time. From there he moved to Webster County, Nebraska, residing there until 1908, when he moved to Farnam, living on a farm southeast of here until 1917, when he moved to town.
At the age of 37 he joined the Swedish Free Mission Church, being truly converted. He has been an active church worker for more than forty years. The last few years as a member of the Farnam Nazarene Church. During this time his chief ambition was to do good to all, and serve his maker faithfully, which was followed to the end.
Always willing to help those in need, and offer a cheering word.
He leaves to mourn his departure a kind and loving wife, nine children: Fred of Gaston, Oregon, Mrs. Esther Nordmo, Shanyang, China; Claude of Rockford, Ill., Anne of Omaha, Nebr., John, Mrs. Ruth Johnson, Walter, Edna and Noble all of Farnam, also two brothers, Olaf Oberg of Lonsboda, Sweden and Benjamin Oberg of Bladen, Nebr., four sisters: Mrs. Emma Nelson of Haxtun, Colo., Mrs. Ingrid Elder of Aspen, Colo., Mrs. Hanna Svenson of New York, Mrs. Bengta Nelson of Lonsboda, Sweden; eighteen grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
