William's parents were:

Mary Elizabeth Pearson 1824 – 1871

William was married to two Sarah's, which seems difficult for most researchers to keep straight. They were Sarah Frances Britt, daughter of George & Susan Jan (Clement) Britt & Sarah Virginia, daughter of Granville & Mary "Elizabeth" Ann (Hamlett) Henderson.

William, age 27, married Sarah Frances Britt in Mexico, Audrain Co, MO on Feb. 26, 1878.

ON JUNE 12, 1880,
Wm. K. & Sarah F., ages 29 & 30, lived in Salt River Township, Audrain Co, MO where he was farming to support them. His daughter, Rosa L., age 7, was living with them.

ON JUNE 20, 1900,
William, shown as E.K., age 51, & Sarrah, age 50, lived on a farm in Linn, Audrain Co, MO. They had been married 28 years; Sarah had not given birth to any children.

ON MAY 3/4, 1910,
William & Sarah, ages 59 & 60, lived in Linn Township, Audrain Co, MO. They had been married 32 years; Sarah had given birth to 1 child who was living. Sarah's widowed mother, Susan Britt, age 84, lived with them. She was the mother of 8 children; two were living.

Sarah's mother, Susan L. (Clemens) Britt, died in Laddonia, MO on March 4, 1915, from LaGrippe. She had lived 88 years, 11 months, & 1 year. The informant on the death certificate was Wm. K. Gass of Laddonia. Susan was buried on March 6.

Sarah died from "Nervous Prostration" at home in Laddonia at 12:40 p.m. on May 6, 1919. She had lived 69 years, 1 month, & 8 days.

William Gass, age 69, widowed, lived in Prairie, Audrain Co, MO with the Elmer H. Brown & wife, Alverda, ages 35 & 27. Elmer was a carpenter.

William's second marriage was to Sarah Virginia (Henderson) married name unknown.

ON APRIL 14, 1930,
William & Sarah, ages 79 & 71, owned a home on Walnut St. in Laddonia valued at $1800. William was retired.

Sarah died from cancer at their home in Laddonia at 5:20 p.m. on July 12, 1935. She was buried two days later. She had lived 76 years, 3 months, & 19 days.

William was at home in Laddonia when he died from Anemia on July 20, 1940. He had lived 89 years, 11 months, & 3 days.
