Samuel Black Gass (1819 - 1873)
Mary Elizabeth Pearson Gass (1824 - 1867)

She was the second of their 12 children, all born in Audrain Co, MO.

Mary married George Thomas Fox in Mexico, Audrain Co, MO on July 4, 1866. Their ceremony was performed by Rev. J. R. Symington.

ON JULY 27, 1870,
George & Mary Fox, ages 29 & 27, lived in Linn Township, Audrain Co, MO where he farmed to support them. Their son, Leonard, was age 1. Their post office was Johns Branch.

On June 10, 1880, Mary A. & Geo. T. Fox, ages 39 & 36, lived in Precinct 1, Parker Co, TX where he supported the family by farming. Their children were Leonard T., age 11; Mary E., 8; Hattie L., 6; & Benj., 3.

Her sister Nancy Carlton, was married to Jasper Kidwell in Parker Co, TX on October 31, 1880.

ON JUNE 23, 1900,
George T. & Mary A. Fox, ages 59 & 56, lived in Greenwood, Custer Co, CO where they owned a farm. They had been married 34 years; Mary had given birth to 6 children, but only 4 were living. Children living with them were Benjamin F., age 23, & Susie M., 16.

ON APRIL 15, 1910,
George & Mary A., ages 69 & 66, were still living on their farm in Greenwood. The census indicated that George was crippled & didn't work - no income. They had been married 43 years; Mary had given birth to 6 children, but only 3 were living. Their grandson, Carl F. Painter, age 9, lived with them.

The exact date Mary died is unknown. However, the year, 1910, is shown on her marker.
